Photojournalism

As a photojournalist, I am privileged to observe emotional, nuanced stories of the world we live in. I use my unique combination of skills to single-handedly write, shoot, and edit stories in a intimate and familiar voice.

Helping Kids Deal with Complex Emotions

Commissioned by Esplanade Offstage.

Text by Joelle Cecilia Quek.

Writing about the creative process behind The Feelings Farm, a play by Amanda Chong, with music by Julian Wong and directed by Edith Podesta, was an emotional journey that I'm thankful I had the opportunity to experience. The team worked with children from complex backgrounds and seeing their inner world represented in their artworks and the theatre piece was a very humbling encounter.

'VICES' Music Video

Commissioned by Tabitha Nauser.

I documented the behind the scenes of Tabitha Nauser's music video for VICES, her first release as an indie artist. The superhero-inspired shoot spanned two days and saw our entire crew braving the trip to Ubi as well as utilizing greenscreen for some otherworldly effects.

'Waxing Crescent' Music Video

Commissioned by codecaud.

Shooting set photography of codecaud's music video for Waxing Crescent was physically taxing but creatively fulfilling for everyone involved. The shoots took place overnight and over three weekends at East Coast Beach, filled with music, dancing, and sea breeze.

Shot on a mixture of 35mm film and digital mediums.

'J-O-H-O-R'

For ROTOTORO.

Set photography behind the scenes of ROTOTORO's comedy sketch, J-O-H-O-R. The short film pokes fun at the patriotic videos released every year in commemoration of Singapore's day of independence.

I think I can safely say that shooting while trying to hold in your laughter might be more difficult than normal photography!

Delving deep into examining the relationship between Man and the natural phenomenon surrounding him for the launch of T.H.E Dance Company's PheNoumenon was an eye-opening experience. T.H.E Dance Company's artistic director Kuik Swee Boon's encyclopaedic list of references and inspirations made him a joy to speak to.

Profile piece on Naomi Yeo, radio presenter, producer, and actress. The time flew as I worked on this conversation with such a grounded soul.
